Gunfight Concepts - Pistol & Carbine L1

 

Course Length: 3 days (3 hrs classroom, 20 hrs range)

Required Equipment:

- AR/M4 style carbine (AK style is okay as well) w/optic and/or iron sights.

- Minimum six carbine magazines.

- Pistol with minimum three magazines.

- Plate carrier w/ at least three mag pouches, or Rhodesian style vest, or carbine mag pouches for belt rig.

- Duty belt & holster w/ at least two pistol mag pouches.

- Carbine sling (two-point preferred).

- Eye, ear protection and IFAK w/tourniquet.

- Firearm maintenance gear ( lube, tools, spare parts).

- Comfortable, durable clothing, change of clothes, towel.

- Jacket or cover shirt and gloves.

Ammunition:  500 rds carbine, 500 rds pistol (minimum)

 

Instruction is provided by seasoned combat veterans of the Army’s SMU/SFOD-D and OGA operators.

This course is designed to address firearm employment in a gunfight scenario as opposed to just square range shooting. Beginning with marksmanship fundamentals and progressing through various positional and shooting-on-the-move drills. The course is configured to enforce stress management and dynamic problem solving. Expect a moderately high level of physical exertion and discomfort.

    Kris, Just watched the 8/14 round table meeting. I have a question about the Zello app that turns your cell phone into a basic radio. Is this app okay or scrape it. wW not use in our NP Group.It use just wifi. Thanks for your time. Eric V. Prescott Az

The Insecurity of "Push Notifications" and What to Do About It

 By now it has been widely circulated that the US government (and their 5 Eyes friends) has been secretly snooping on phone user's messaging in the form of Push Notifications. Not only are they snooping, but they applied a legal gag order to Apple and Google to prevent them from alerting you the customer of this fact. What's that you say? You are using an end-to-end encrypted messenger such as Signal and therefore are safe from said intrusion? Not so fast... While there are indeed some well designed and audited secure chat apps out there, that is only part of the story. Most, if not all, messaging applications employ Push notifications as a way to let you know that someone just reached out to you, even if you didn't happen to have the corresponding application open at the moment. This is, of course, very convenient for the end user, but the problem lies in how this is facilitated on the back end. Apple and Google both employ proprietary servers that intercept a message head...
