  Excerpt from book intro... The wind pulled at my legs, dragging them towards the rear of the UH-60 Black Hawk as my teammates and I sat in the left side doorway awaiting our arrival a t this evening’s target. The wind felt good up here as I scanned the horizon through my NODs (Night Optical Devices), cooler than the unforgiving heat on the ground. We had become quite used to these middle of the night raids on various targets in the cent ral Iraq theater, but this one was somewhat different. We had been standing by on red status in our hootches adjacent to the airfield when we got the alert to launch for a HVT (High Value Target) capture/kill. We received the mission, cobbled together an O PO RD and were on the birds within ten minutes. Gunfight Concepts course in Phoenix, AZ  SEP 10-12 Cost: $850 Combat Studies Group Tactical Training Series   Gunfight Concepts - Pistol & Carbine L1   Course Length: 3 days (3 hrs classroom, 20 hrs range) Required Equipment: - AR/M4 style carbine (AK style is okay as well) w/optic and/or iron sights. - Minimum six carbine magazines. - Pistol with minimum three magazines. - Plate carrier w/ at least three mag pouches, or Rhodesian style vest, or carbine mag pouches for belt rig. - Duty belt & holster w/ at least two pistol mag pouches. - Carbine sling (two-point preferred). - Eye, ear protection and IFAK w/tourniquet. - Firearm maintenance gear ( lube, tools, spare parts). - Comfortable, durable clothing, change of clothes, towel. - Jacket or cover shirt and gloves.
